As we shared in late February, Gippslandia #34 – this edition – will be our last.

Whilst it’s tough to say, it’s a move that’s not due to a lack of support, passion or ideas. We’re extremely proud to have been a platform for a wide range of voices throughout our community, and our sense of celebration far outweighs our disappointment in this journey ending. Thank you for your generosity over the past nine years.

From cookbooks to pop-up stores, supporting Gippsland leadership programs, raising money for burnt-out fence posts and local businesses impacted by Covid, mentoring budding creatives, encouraging hundreds of people to learn CPR or get their heart health checked, as well as galvanising lunches with the region's best chefs, we've done a fair bit more than just scrawl a few million words across 56,000 pages of newsprint each quarter.

Across all corners of our community, Gippslandia has given people an outlet to share their stories: which could be publishing the work of budding creatives for the first time, to providing those near the end of their careers a means to contribute their wisdom – connecting talent and passion across generations in our region.

We believe that each issue of Gippslandia helped promote our region in many different ways, showing the rest of the world the dynamic, creative, enterprising Gippsland that we can see every day. It was our way to raise the narrative surrounding this incredible region and to take your stories and success to the world.

For our last edition, we're exploring the theme of friends and friendship. After all, where would we be without them?!

Producing Gippslandia has been a terrific adventure – one we've loved sharing with you.

Before leaving for a well-deserved break, we’re heading out with a “bang” by releasing a Gippslandia book – part retrospective, part manifesto for the region.

Thanks for being part of the Gippslandia family x

“Thank you for all that you've done in lifting the profile of this beautiful place.”

“Your role in Gippsland's media landscape has been so valuable, offering thoughtful, accountable journalism and spotlighting the human stories of people trying to add value at a time when quick, digital first content often takes over. Local stories deserve to be told, and I've always believed in the power of regional media to highlight the people and businesses shaping our community. While my only contribution ended up being donations, I've truly appreciated the work you've done to give Gippsland a voice. Thank you.” – Anthony Mayer
