The West Gippsland Catchment Management Authority is a natural resource management organisation based right here in Gippsland. They take this role seriously and their aim, as a leader in natural resource management, is to inspire partnerships and action to achieve improved catchment health.
Why is Gippsland a great place to do business?
For us, Gippsland is much more than a place to do business, we think it’s one of the most diverse and important regions in Australia environmentally and we love doing our natural resource management work here.
What’s the one thing about your business that you wish others understood better?
That we can’t do this alone. Improving and protecting Gippsland’s natural environment is a team effort and we do our work with partners; Landcare, Traditional Owners, farmers and the community.
Why do you support Gippslandia?
We love any project that highlights what is great about Gippsland and encourages people to care more about this amazing region.
Why is it important for your business to support local initiatives?
We’re local people so supporting local initiatives is actually supporting our local communities. We’re proud of the contribution our staff make on the job, but also we’ve got many staff that are active in their communities, raising money for important causes, coaching teams, being involved in groups and volunteer organisations.
What does a successful and supportive community look like to you?
It’s a healthy community, healthy environment and a community that helps each other out.
What do you love about being based in Gippsland?
Easy, the diverse and beautiful natural environment.
What is your ‘not to be missed’ tip for people visiting our region?
We’ve got so many special spots it’s hard to choose just one ‘not to be missed’ tip. We might have to go broad and say, make sure that while you’re here you get outdoors and visit one of the beautiful parks, lakes, rivers or beaches and enjoy nature.
