Andrea Lane
Andrea is a passionate supporter of community arts and is based in Lake Tyers Beach.
These days life is dedicated to the FLOAT project @ Lake Tyers – a floating arts residency. An idea that’s evolved from the people I’ve met, and the things I’ve learned since I moved to Nowa Nowa 20 years ago.
I came as a Fairfax journo/webmistress to marry local artist Gary Yelen. Since then we’ve written + delivered millions of $s in community arts funding – Nowa Nowa Nudes, an NNNudes sculpture walk & pétanque piste, (f)route breakfasts all over the place, FROUTEVILLE and FROUTELAND (an artist-made travel bureau @ Docklands).
Now it’s all about wooing the gods to love FLOAT.
Gippslandia: What do you love about being based in Gippsland?
Andrea Lane: It’s hard to find a proper job… but you CAN make it up as you go.
Why do you support Gippslandia?
It’s what I want Gippsland to do/be/look like/think like.
What does a successful and supportive community look like to you?
One that can find the common ground – the bits that unite us, not
the bits that divide us. And build on that. If you can’t say something
nice, don’t bother. If you have an idea – I’ll help. The synergy helps
everyone.
