If there is anything this youth edition shows, it's that Gippsland's future is in good hands. The younger generation of Gippslandians are full of energy, talent and creativity. But we certainly didn’t get here all by ourselves!

Our predecessors paved the way for us and their adventures, achievements and hard-earned wisdom are all ripe for our picking. They're like a GPS guiding us through life's twists and turns. By tapping into their treasure trove of know-how, we can blaze new trails and create something fresh and exciting. The past and present creatives of Gippsland are our inspirational launchpad, and the sky's the limit! What do you wish to do with all that knowledge?

It's like a game of hot potato, but instead of potatoes, we pass knowledge and insights through generations. The result? A society that's constantly evolving and improving. And boy, does it show. With each passing year, we witness groundbreaking innovations that set the world ablaze with excitement. It's no wonder industries are booming with fresh creations that take the world by storm. And we don’t need to look outside of Gippsland to find inspiring guides whose path we can follow! Music is an ever-changing entity, capable of touching the souls of people from all walks of life, and it is one of the creative industries flourishing in our region. With its timeless classical melodies and modern beats, music has the ability to evoke a range of emotions and shape our experiences. It's no wonder artists continue to push the boundaries.

“I challenge you to blaze your own trail and be a pioneer in the field you are passionate about.”

Mick Harrington is one of these talented musicians making a significant impact on the Gippsland music scene. His music captures the essence of the region's natural beauty, from its rolling hills and farmland to its rugged coastline and pristine beaches. Through his music, Mick has united the community, fostering a sense of pride and shared connection. He is a true local hero, inspiring us all to celebrate the power of music and the beauty of our communities.

Anna Sassi is another Gippslandian paving the way, but in the graphic and textile design space. The fashion industry has seen dramatic change due to technological advancements that have led to innovative design approaches.

These approaches allow individuals to express their unique sense of style. Anna has worked hard to pursue her dream of owning a studio in East Gippsland and creating unique designs for interiors. After spending over a decade in the fashion industry, she shifted her focus to fabrics and wallpapers, which has resulted in a newfound passion for design.

The art world is a colourfully diverse place that's been shapeshifting over the years. With each generation, art has evolved, but painting, drawing and sculpting have consistently proved to be spectacular ways to express our emotions.

Helen Timbury is a standout artist, hailing from Drouin. She's taken her unique style and turned it into something magical that perfectly captures the essence of Gippsland while exploring themes like identity, culture, history and her love of nature.

Spending time with Helen demonstrates that art can be a thrilling adventure of self-expression and discovery. Anyone who wants to create and express themselves can play a part in this ever-changing industry and showcase their unique voice and style!

Embrace the past! Reflect on it and learn from its wisdom; then dare to shake things up, take risks, push the boundaries of what is possible and get creative! I challenge you to blaze your own trail and be a pioneer in the field you are passionate about.

As Suzanne Young says, “Well that’s the thing about the past – it shapes our future.” Gippsland has a rich history and a vibrant community of innovators and creators and, by embracing the past and learning from those who have come before us, we can build upon their successes.

Let’s show the world what we're made of! Whether you're an artist, an entrepreneur or just someone with a wild imagination, there's a place for you here. We can make history together and create a legacy that will inspire generations to come.
