Dive into the inaugural Regional Writers Rise Festival, a vibrant celebration of storytelling in its many forms, taking place on June 22-23 at Traralgon and Moe Libraries. Spearheaded by Federation University Australia students, this festival embraces the theme 'New Beginnings' and showcases the rich narratives of Gippsland.

With a full slate of events ranging from digital storytelling screenings to flash fiction workshops, the festival is a haven for creativity. Highlights include a Writers meet and greet at Traralgon Library, interactive workshops, and the much-anticipated 'Rise Up! Short Story Competition' awards ceremony.

This unique festival, supported by Latrobe City Libraries and Gippslandia, not only offers a platform for local and regional writers but also includes a digital component to ensure accessibility for those who cannot join in person. Our partnership with the Latrobe Health Assembly enhances our program with innovative multimedia projects, highlighting the collaborative spirit of our community.

The dedicated efforts of Federation University Professional and Creative Writing student interns are central to the festival’s success, emphasising our commitment to inclusivity and engagement through both virtual and in-person events.
